They look to be almost exactly the same thing that Mustangs Plus sells, but a little less expensive. The 65's that had the gauge package as a factory option had a bezel with a half circle trim ring along the top side of the bezel. Our Interior Decor color is black, so we didn't need to refinish the exterior housing. Take your time, use wire ties to pull wires up and secure. I will have to look closer at the wires I found last night and with the help of the wiring diagrams from your link hopefully figure this out. I never would have thought or known that the black wire is not a ground, I appreciate the tip. It may suck installing it, but your system may work trouble-free. Ray, Thanks for the information, I do have the instructions but could not figure out which wire to tap the red wire from the tach adapter to. It works when I put an circuit tester between the coil and the tach wire. Simply remove the retaining screws, pull the cluster out a few inches and set aside. Inspect it carefully for broken wires or other damage. I know this is getting ridiculous. So the decision was made to run the single wire to the coil.
You're after the internals and the back housing. These are the ones that have the little metal teeth around the socket that holds it in place in the metal dash housing. Housings with rust on the back are typically not a good sign. Originals are hard to find, and when you do, they often need restoration. Your dash is then ready for paint and detail. I got mine at the swap meet.
Need an ashtray for the back of your console? They came in camera black and walnut trim. When we pulled the unit out of the box, we were stoked it felt weighty like the original, a result of using a zinc die-cast housing coated like the original with wrinkle texture paint.
